History of Unishore Workwear: The Beginning...

History of Unishore Workwear

Unishore Workwear, originally known as Unishore Bedrijfskleding, is a family business that has stood for reliability, quality and professional advice since 1985. The customer is central to this.
Founded by Jaap Posthumus, Unishore started as a supplier of workwear and personal protective equipment for offshore customers. Jaap built the company with a focus on service and the customer's needs. When he wanted to retire in 2007, he sold Unishore to Gerhard and Petra Koorn.

Expansion to Various Sectors

After the takeover, Unishore Workwear expanded its services to other sectors and has since provided companies in various other sectors with suitable workwear. From hospitality and installation companies to construction, logistics and offshore: everyone can go to Unishore Workwear.
The pleasure in our work lies in finding the right clothing solutions for each customer, so that employees feel safe and comfortable in the workplace, have a professional appearance, and the team spirit is strengthened by suitable work clothing.

Growth and New Establishments

The head office was moved to Handelsweg 6 in Den Helder, where the company is still located. From the beginning, investments were made in a webshop, which now accounts for 40% of the total turnover.
To meet the growing demand, a second floor was added to the Handelsweg in 2013 for additional office space and a larger showroom. The ambition to expand to North Holland became reality on April 20, 2020 with the opening of a new branch in Zwaag/Hoorn.

Clothing Management System (CMS)

For many years, Unishore Workwear has been offering a unique Clothing Management System (CMS) to regular customers. This system functions as a personal webshop containing all products that the customer has ordered in the past or wants to order in the future. This ensures that repeat orders run smoothly and efficiently. Customers can have new products added to their own CMS and easily track orders, both at company level and at individual employee level.
Our KMS offers unprecedented possibilities and helps companies streamline their clothing management. Furthermore, we offer this system completely free of charge as an additional service for our customers.

Sustainability and Innovation

Unishore Workwear continues to focus on sustainability in its business operations. The Zwaag branch is completely energy neutral and the ultimate goal in Den Helder is to achieve this as well. Sustainability plays a major role in the selection of suppliers and customers are helped with drop-off boxes for recycling old work clothing and shoes. Fortunately, the clothing industry is aware of its polluting role and is looking at how it can and should be improved in every area.

Team and Personal Service

The Unishore Workwear team consists of a permanent core of employees with extensive knowledge of workwear and PPE . We think along with our customers and like to maintain contact. This can be a visit on location or an appointment at one of our branches. In this digital age, a Teams meeting is often easy and time-saving for the customer.
Workwear is almost always provided with a logo, we do this in-house, we have our own team of specialized employees who embroider and/or print logos on the clothing. They have an eye for detail and years of experience. And are happy to give advice on the placement in consultation with the customer, who always first receives a digital example for approval.

Pipe

Gerhard Koorn, as General Manager, sets the course for the company. Petra Koorn heads the embroidery department, which has its own building in Den Helder due to its size, and also focuses on communication via blogs and LinkedIn. Daughter Chris runs the branch in Zwaag and is an important point of contact for many of our major customers. Together with our great team in Den Helder and Zwaag, which feels like family, we ensure that Unishore Workwear continues to grow and innovate.
