Collection: ABEK Filters

When using full face masks and half face masks, it is important to use the correct filters. An ABEK filter offers protection against the most common harmful substances. Always make sure you know what kind of gases, vapors and substances you are working with so that you can use the correct filters.

  • A (Brown): Organic vapors and solvents with a boiling point >65° C
  • AX (Brown): Organic vapors and solvents with a boiling point of <65° C
  • B (Gray): Inorganic gases and vapors (Exception Carbon monoxide)
  • E (Yellow): Sulfur dioxide & hydrogen chloride
  • K (Green): Ammonia
  • P (White): Protection against particulate matter

Why ABEK filters?

ABEK filters protect you against various gases and vapors. ABEK filters are a multiple filter that protects you against multiple gases, organic and inorganic vapors, sulfur dioxide and ammonia. ABEK filters absorb these gases and vapors so that the user does not get them into the lungs. In some cases a chemical reaction takes place in the gas filter, this is called chemisorption.

When to replace an ABEK filter?

With an ABEK filter it is difficult to determine when you need to replace it, but with a dust filter this is easier. When an ABEK filter is full, the gases can escape from the filter while wearing it, the user can then taste or smell the gases. If this is the case, the filter is no longer safe. And needs to be replaced. This is only possible with gases or vapors that you can smell or taste; if this is not the case, you should not use a gas filter. An example of an odorless and tasteless gas is carbon monoxide.

What are combination filters?

Combination filters protect you not only against certain gases, but also against harmful substances such as smoke and mist. Combination filters and gas filters that protect you against multiple types of gas can only be used for one type at a time. Switching from one gas to another gas is also not recommended. The different gases can cause a chemical reaction, which entails risks.
