Dust masks and dust filters
A dust mask looks quite simple. There is a hood that you place over the mouth and nose using a carrying strap. This can be elastic, so that there is a carrying strap on the mask for each ear, but there are also dust masks with an adjustable carrying strap that goes around your head and can therefore be attached extra safely. At first glance it may seem as if dust masks only enclose your nose and mouth and thus ensure that particulate matter cannot enter your lungs, but most dust masks are also equipped with a dust filter that retains small dust particles and liquid particles. Because these filters do not have an unlimited shelf life, it is also possible to order loose dust filters in the Unishore Workwear webshop.
Both the dust masks and dust filters in our online range are very competitively priced. The dust masks are often sold in large value packs. This way you can get 3, 5, 10, 20 or even 100 dust masks for a very nice price. Dust masks have the further advantage that they do not take up much space. If you need these respiratory protective equipment spread out over a long period of time, you will not need a lot of storage space to keep the ones you are not using immediately. If particulate matter or other small particles can be found in the air in your company, you are prepared for anything with the bulk packaging from our webshop. And because almost all models are unisex and adapt to the shape of the face, every employee can use this handy respiratory protection.
Types of dust masks
Just like safety shoes, dust masks can be divided into different categories that say something about the degree of protection. You can recognize these categories by a standard that starts with “FFP”. This stands for “Filtering Facepiece against Particles” and therefore indicates how much protection the filter in the dust mask (“facepiece”) offers against dust particles (“particles”). FFP is often abbreviated to “P” and is always followed by a number between 1 and 3. Simply put: the higher the number, the more protection the dust mask offers against particulate matter in the air. Conversely, it does not mean that dust masks with a lower FFP standard are more dangerous. It only depends on the circumstances which safety standard best suits your work.
FFP1 dust masks offer protection against particulate matter levels up to four times the Legal Dutch Limit Value (WNG). This makes these very useful dust masks for when you do sanding and sawing work by hand at home or at work. Do you do this mechanically? Then we recommend wearing an FFP2 dust mask. These masks can withstand up to ten times the WNG and are therefore very useful if drilling, milling, grinding, insulating and mixing plaster and plasterwork are part of your work. FFP3 dust masks offer protection up to fifty times the WNG and are therefore the best choice if toxic dust particles are in the air. For example, if you work with cement, this can be a risk. If these forms of protection are not sufficient, you can also consider other respiratory protective equipment, such as gas masks or full face masks. You will also find these in our range.
Order dust masks online
You can buy dust masks at any DIY store, but the supply there is often limited. And because the protection of your respiratory tract is of vital importance, it is of course important that you purchase the right dust masks and dust filters. At Unishore Workwear you can order your dust masks online. This allows you to compare all the properties of the different dust masks in our online store at any time. If you have difficulties deciding which type of mask or respirator is suitable for you, you can contact our customer service by telephone or e-mail. We are only satisfied if you order respiratory protection that offers you sufficient protection against the conditions at your work.
