A painter works in the blazing sun one day and perhaps the next day in a factory hall where it is freezing. One must therefore be well prepared for different working conditions.
Work clothing for temperature differences
In most cases a cotton T-shirt or polo in combination with a sturdy short or long work trousers will suffice. Does the temperature change? Then we have plenty of solutions for that too. Because painters work indoors and outdoors, they often have to deal with temperature differences. It is therefore important that this is taken into account when purchasing work clothing. More layers keep out the cold and wind. There are also special shirts with a UV-block for working in the sun, which also have a breathable and cooling effect.
Why do painters wear white?
Traditionally, painters often dress in white work clothes and work gloves, so that the color of the work clothing has no influence during the mixing of paint. For example, red clothing can give a pink cast to the paint. Nowadays paint is often mixed automatically, but it may still happen that a painter has to mix his own paint. The reflection of the clothing color on the surface to be painted is also a reason to wear white. If the painter wears orange overalls, an orange glow will appear on the wall or ceiling. This is not very useful if the wall needs to be whitened. Finally, painters sometimes work with harmful substances, such as thinner. It is useful to be able to see immediately if such substances have ended up on the clothing.
Fit
For a painter it is important that work clothing is not too loose. Painters often work on scaffolding and ladders with elements that can protrude. If clothing is too loose, this can of course lead to dangerous situations. That is why it is always recommended to choose work clothing with a slim fit.
