Polar fleece and micro fleece are two types of synthetic fleece, composed of polyester. The fabric is woven with twisted fiber yarns and then brushed to achieve the typical fleece texture. This is what gives this fabric its light and soft character; popular in many indoor and outdoor situations and ideal to edit as promotional and corporate clothing.
Similarities of polar fleece and micro fleece
Both polar fleece and micro fleece contain small air pockets in the fabric. This ensures that the fabrics can breathe. This allows moisture from the body to be removed. As a nice bonus, these air pockets make the fabric extra soft. And also handy: polar fleece and micro fleece can simply be thrown in the washing machine.
Differences between polar fleece and micro fleece
Micro fleece is, as the name suggests, the thinner version of polar fleece. Micro fleece is perceived as softer and lighter and is therefore also suitable for baby and children's clothing. The origin of polar fleece lies at Malden Mills. In the 1970s, polar fleece was introduced as a product name by this company. Over the years it has become the common term to describe synthetic fleece.
