The naming of the Bionik collection
The name Bionik and the names of the shoes are inspired by the film 'the Bionic man'. This Bionic man is half man, half machine. Previously, Grisport work shoes were given a number. The first series started with a 7 and then five digits, followed by the improved 8 series with also five digits. The work shoes in the lightweight Bioniks series have now all been given their own individual name, also because they are easier to remember than a series of numbers.

Compared to the popular Grisport 803 shoe, a high model work shoe from the Bionik collection is at least 200 grams lighter! Despite their very low weight, the Bionik work shoes meet all safety requirements for work shoes. This means that the Bioniks, like all other Grisport safety shoes, comply with the European standard EN ISO 20345 for safety shoes and are provided with a CE quality mark. This means that safety and sustainability are guaranteed. The EN ISO 20345 is divided into various requirements, which are indicated with the S codes SB, S1, S1P, S1P, S2 and S3 for safety shoes and S4 and S5 for waterproof safety boots. The most common standard is S3. The letter S stands for 'safety'. For example, S3 safety shoes must protect against slipping, falling objects, liquids and oil, nails and the like.
