Collection: Dust masks FFP3
FFP3 dust masks offer protection up to a maximum concentration of 50x MAC value (threshold limit value (TLV)) for floating dust particles. These masks are therefore useful for jobs and activities that release particulate matter. These are not intended to protect against harmful substances. What are the differences between FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 dust masks?
FFP dust masks protect you against inhaling fine dust particles. The dust mask must protect the wearer from inhaling dust. The dust mask must fit completely on the face for best effect. The FFP class indicates how well the mask filters when inhaling harmful substances. The masks have class FFP1 (at least 80% of the particles are blocked), FFP2 (94%) or FFP3 (99%). The masks also have a CE marking. The masks are tested based on the NEN-EN 149 +A1 standard and must comply with the European Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (EC 2016/425).
When is a dust mask mandatory?
As soon as employees are exposed to dangerous dust particles and particulate matter, the Working Conditions Act states that this must be prevented as much as possible. These hazards are prevented as much as possible by extraction and ventilation. Mouth masks or dust masks are the last solutions to reduce the risk of inhaling hazardous substances. If measures such as properly ventilating the room or replacing substances with safer alternatives prove insufficient, the employer is obliged to make dust masks available.
For which activities are FFP3 dust masks suitable?
Dust masks are suitable for most industrial applications and other work situations where fine dust and particles are released. Small particles are released, for example, when sanding or when working with insulating materials. They are usually invisible to the naked eye, but affect the lungs and blood circulation. You can use FFP3 masks for asbestos removal, but only for short-term work.
