3-layer system

Work equipment that is safe, functional and comfortable consists of several layers. We call this the 3-layer system. When you wear three layers you stay dry, warm and are optimally protected against all risks and conditions in your working environment. The 3-layer system consists of the following three specific layers:

  1. The first layer is a base layer of thermal underwear or undergarments.

  2. The second layer is an insulating mid layer that mainly applies to the upper body, such as a fleece jacket or sweater.
  3. The third layer is the protective outer layer. This is EN342 or EN14058 standardized work clothing.

Layer 1: base layer

The base layer consists of (thermal) undergarments or underwear that keeps you dry and comfortable and that helps remove excess perspiration. Good underwear is distinguished by high thermal efficiency, optimal ventilation, antibacterial protection and high wearing comfort. Undergarments should feel like a second skin. Layer 2: insulating mid layer

The second and insulating mid layer helps you stay extra warm in low temperatures and provide maximum comfort. Acting as a mid layer, sweaters or fleece vests and fleece sweaters are very suitable. Fleece is comfortable, easy to maintain and durable. Below you will find a selection of our insulating mid layers.

Layer 3: protective outer layer

The outer layer is usually standardized clothing (EN342 or EN14058) that protects you against wind, rain, snow and cold. But it also ensures that excess moisture is driven away and evaporated. If your work takes place (partly) outside you naturally want one jacket that keeps you warm and dry when temperatures are low. A lot of winter coats, winter work trousers and winter overalls meet the EN342 or EN14058 standards. View the most popular winter coats below or view them all here work jackets.
